Welcome to the Southern Pressure Treaters’ Association website.
The Southern Pressure Treaters’ Association (SPTA) was chartered in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1954. Our members supply vital wood components for America’s infrastructure.
Pressure treated wood poles and wood crossarms form the backbone of the electrical and telecommunications system that delivers electricity, phone, cable and internet to our homes and workplaces allowing us to experience a standard of living unparalleled in the world.
Pressure treated timber piles continue to be the mainstay of foundation systems. Whether it’s a manufacturing plant, airport, commerical building, processing facility, home, pier, wharf, bulkhead or a simple boat dock, timber piles remain the economical and environmentally friendly choice.
Manufacturers of these and other industrial treated wood products are located on the About and the Sources of Supply pages.
Southern Pressure Treaters’ Association is composed of producers of industrial treated wood products, suppliers of AWPA approved industrial preservatives and preservative components, distributors, engineers, manufacturers, academia, inspection agencies and producers of untreated wood products. The site user is urged to review the Disclaimer and to make his or her own independent evaluation of the information presented.
